Fort Myers-based independent insurance agency participates in U.S. Postal Service Operation Santa program
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Dec. 16, 2021) - Iron Ridge Insurance Services is granting a special Christmas wish to one Florida family, as part of the USPS Operation Santa program. Operation Santa was established by the Postal Service 109 years ago to help those in need experience a happy holiday season.
Letters to Santa have been arriving at post offices for well over a century. In 1912, the U.S. Postmaster General authorized local postmasters to allow employees and customers to respond to these heartfelt notes. The program eventually became known as USPS Operation Santa. This is the Iron Ridge team’s first year participating in the tradition.
“Santa receives hundreds of thousands of letters from kids every year,” said Norman Lutz, CEO of Iron Ridge Insurance Services. “We wanted to give him a little relief, so we adopted a family on his behalf. The whole team really got into the spirit of giving to Kylex, Kaeden, and their parents. It’s been a fantastic experience.”
Iron Ridge is known for its commitment to the community. The Fort Myers-based boutique insurance agency annually asks each employee to identify a nonprofit cause to support. The company then donates $500 to each organization selected. In 2021, the result was $5,000 in donations made to worthy initiatives-- each one hand-picked by a team member.
“Giving back is an important part of who we are at Iron Ridge,” explains Agency Administrator Claudia Nelson, who organized the company’s Operation Santa participation. “When we read these heartfelt letters to Santa, everyone was ready to jump in and help immediately.”
